What We Do
Habitat for Humanity - Colville Valley Partners is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry with the goal of eliminating substandard housing in this region. Habitat raises money, recruits volunteers, and constructs simple, decent houses for eligible low-income families. It sells these homes at cost with a long-term interest-free loan, working in partnership with the families who invest hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" in building their home and/or another Habitat home.
With the philosophy that people need capital, not charity, and co-workers, not caseworkers, the vision of Habitat is to build or rehabilitate homes for people who have no other means of obtaining better shelter. The local housing shortage is critical, especially for decent yet affordable homes. While Habitat can't fully solve this problem, it can be one important part of the solution.
